All Joule 3.0 compute nodes feature are equipped with two AMD EPYC 9534 processors. These processors are based on the AMD Zen 4 architecture and feature 64 cores per per processor for a total of 128 cores per system. Compared to Joule 2.0 Intel Skylake CPUs, the AMD Epyc 9534’s unique architecture presents many opportunities and pitfalls that users must be mindful of while submitting jobs. Failure to utilize the strengths of the Zen4 architecture will likely result in poor job performance.
